Fotoblitz.ch is an online shop for digital photo services and photo gift articles. The approximately 200 products are all manufactured in Switzerland. The company, which was established in 2004, has five employees and two apprentices on a full-time basis, whilst during the peak season before Christmas time, up to 25 people work in the production.

In the summer of 2012 Fotoblitz.ch switched to a new web shop solution. Although the accounts receivable losses were not particularly high, Patrick Allemann, owner of Fotoblitz.ch, wanted to check his customers with respect to invoice payments before making a delivery:“The non-payments primarily disagreed with our sense of justice. It’s not right that we do good work here and this is then exploited by a few customers by not paying their invoices.” With Bisnode D&B, Fotoblitz.ch was able to implement a fully automated check.

The web shop system of Fotoblitz.ch uses the SIW (Swiss Insight Web Service) by Bisnode D&B to access the B2B and B2C database of Bisnode D&B in real time in order to check the order data and the credit rating directly during the order process. In approximately 10 cases per day this results in the fact that, due to a negative result of the check, the buyer is not offered the option to pay “by invoice”, but instead they can only place an order by credit card or advance payment. “With this automated solution, we have been able to reduce our accounts receivable losses significantly by more than 50 percent”, Allemann states. “In addition to lower losses, I now feel happy that I am able to counteract bad customers effectively.”
