Thanks to state ventilation, companies that have actually already passed away live on. This is the only way to explain the decline in company bankruptcies.
From January to October 2020, 3,125 companies went bankrupt, which represents a 19 percent decrease compared to the previous year. This decrease is mainly due to the Corona support measures and the possibility for affected companies to apply for short-time work. Bisnode D&B expects that many bankruptcies were not reversed by the government measures, but only postponed. In this situation it is therefore particularly important for suppliers and service providers to check their debtors carefully.
Despite the tense situation, the trend for new companies is positive. The number of new registrations rose by three percent to 37,528 companies.
