It means concretely that we can put you into "marketing segments", for instance "families with children", "retired people", "people living in the city X" based on statistical variables.
This categorization will result in proposing your data to companies that sell products or services that we think are more likely to interest you. At the opposite, it also disallows companies that sell products or services that probably won’t interest you, to contacting you for advertising.
The criteria can be purely geographical, so a company will ask us for a selection of people living within a radius of 10 km from their shop or living in the city X. In a broader way, if we assume that you belong to a family with children, you will receive more ads for family cars, amusement parks, mutuality’s offering services to families ... If you are a retiree, you will rather receive advertisements on investment products or holidays ... Finally, if your house has solar panels, you may be more sensitive to some of the arguments related to environmental protection.
These profiles are not pre-established. We can build them according to the requests of our customers and we do not necessarily keep them.
