Milestones of the company history


2009

Dun & Bradstreet (Schweiz) AG and Credita AG come under the control of the newly-founded parent company, ‘Bisnode Schweiz AG’.


2008

Credita AG becomes the affiliate of Dun & Bradstreet (Schweiz) AG.


2005

The Bonnier Business Information (BBI) is renamed as ‘Bisnode’.


2004

The Dun & Bradstreet (Schweiz) AG is taken over by the Swiss company, Bonnier Business Information (BBI).


1996

In October, the company trading under the name of ‘Dun & Bradstreet (Schweiz) AG’ is taken over.


1995

In summer, a merger takes place between Dun & Bradstreet AG (founded in 1903) and Novinform AG. Dun & Bradstreet overtakes Novinform’s assets and liabilities, becoming ‘D & B Novinform AG’.


1994

Novinform AG is taken over by Dun & Bradstreet AG.


1933

John M. Bradstreet merges with Dun & Co. to become Dun & Bradstreet.


1903

The Dun & Co is founded in Switzerland.


1859

Benjamin Douglass hands over the ‘Mercantile Agency’ to his brother-in-law, Robert Graham Dun. The business then expands under the new company name of ‘R.G. Dun & Company’: initially within the US and then throughout the whole world.


1849

John M. Bradstreet establishes a company in the same line of business in Cincinnati, Ohio.

In the same year, Benjamin Douglass (a former employee of Lewis Tappan) takes over the ‘Mercantile Agency’. A total of four former US presidents were employed by Benjamin Douglass: Abraham Lincoln (President from 1861 to 1865), Ulysses S. Grant (1869–1877), Grover Cleveland (1893–1897) and William McKinley (1897–1901).


1841

Information on solvency was only ever available in a small number of cases. For this reason, Lewis Tappan founded the ‘Mercantile Agency’ in New York.
